steve-

hey i hope your enjoying break and shooting a lot! let me know if you come down this way.

dude these apartment shots are very very nice. I love the space and what you have captured, almost a sense of this buildings "spirit". I as I looked at the photos i have to ask, did you shoot in raw? If you did then I think some of the photos might bring out a whole new feeling by pushing exposure and bringing out the shadows... but on second thought i have no idea what that might do... just a thought. Also especially with this shot, maybe using the shattered window to frame the window or even capture reflections or what not in the glass on the floor. What about dressing in black or something and do a series with long exposures and yourself moving through the frame... seriously though the shots look great and I'm anxious to see more.

I forget, I did shoot some in raw, but not completely. I'm kinda off and on with raw; I havn't found a real continuous and smooth workflow to work with them yet so I don't always enjoy shooting in it. But sometimes it is completely necessary and I bite the dust.

Capturing the reflections through the glass is an excellent idea... I wish I had thought of it!! oh well, maybe next time

as with finding anything for inspiration or to photograph... it requires lots of exploring... being out there. Any road you've ever passed but never gone down... go down it. That's kind been my years resolution, to explore every path that catches my eye. You start to notice things that suggest abandonment such as un-mowed grass, unkept lawns, boarded windows, secluded roads that an owner might die and the public might not ever see the property to want to buy it. Be careful of abandoned areas in populated cities; if they're easy to get into, chances are you're not the first, and chances are more than one person's living there, who could very well be very dangerous if you step on his turf. just explore, you'll find more than you might expect
